Friday 25 May - March of the Chieftains

The excitement builds the night before the games, with the March of the Chieftains parade down from Bathgate town centre to the Meadow Park for an evening of entertainment on Friday 25 May.  From the Precinct up George St, left on to North Bridge St, into Glasgow Rd to Meadow Park.

An official handover of the chieftains will take place before performances of Highland dancing, piping and drumming, Scottish poetry, and both the Network senior and junior choirs to celebrate the year of youth.

 

Saturday 26 May - Games Day - A day to remember for all the family.

Come along to Meadow Park and enjoy a great family day out on the 26 May 2018.

Saturdays Highland Games opens to the public at 9am, with the Highland dancing and solo piping starting at 10am.

The pipe band competitions start at 12noon and the heavy sports at 12.30.

The Cairnpapple Hill Road Race sets off at 2.30pm.

Games Day Attractions

Over and above games competitions, the day is sure to be a hit with young and old alike.

Activities on the day include:

  • The Great School Bake off, with entries from 4 of West Lothian's High Schools, waiting to be judged by Truly Scrumptious of Linlithgow and Tesco Bathgate, along with this years Chieftain May Ross 
  • members of the Lothian miniature road steam club will be attending this years event with 4 Mini Steam engines. 
  • kids fun run at the park - listen out on the day of the games on how to take part!
  • food and craft stalls

If you would like to participate in the WESLO Cairnpapple Hill (Road) Race, entries are accepted on the day.  Please visit the Hill Race stand by 2pm at the latest to register.  Race commences at 2:30pm.

Please note that the Heavy Athletic contest is by invitation only.

May Ross from Boghall, Bathgate, has been announced as chieftain of the 47th West Lothian Highland Games, at Bathgate’s Meadow Park on May 26.

West Lothian Highland Games regularly attracts between 3500 and 5000 visitors annually.  The games being held this year on Saturday 26 May 2018.

We have listened to feedback from traders, in particular Craft stall operators.  Craft stall operators can locate within the Craft Stall Marquee (covered area - protection from the elements) for a small additional cost.

We have competitively priced our stand costs which can be seen below:

Download and complete the trader application form and send it, together with your cheque, and the requested supporting information, to our Trade Secretary, Kyle Brookes.

Please be aware, in becoming a stall holder at the Games, it will be necessary for you to accept the requirements of our terms and conditions.
